About Us
About Lillis
12 years ago, Lillis started with a little girl called Lilli, a sewing machine and a mum who wanted to make her some bows.

What started as Lillis Bowtique — making bows for my daughter — slowly grew into something much bigger. As Lilli grew, so did Lillis. What began with children's bows became a handmade hair accessories business creating pieces for every age, every personality and every kind of hair day.
Today, Lillis is a small, independent, female-owned business, handmade in Manchester, UK. Every piece is made with the same love and care that was there at the very beginning — just with a lot more scrunchies!
Why shop handmade?
When you shop with Lillis, you're not buying from a huge warehouse or a faceless company. You're supporting a small business, a mum, a sewing machine and a whole lot of love, creativity and questionable amounts of fabric. 😂
Every order genuinely matters to us. ❤️
From bows to bold statements
Over the years, Lillis has evolved because I have too. The range has grown from pretty bows into oversized and XXL scrunchies, satin silk scrunchies, faux bow headbands, headwarmers, snoods, Croc accessories and statement designs.
And now there is a much louder side to Lillis too.
Our Sassy & Sweary and Alternative & Gothic pieces are made for women who aren't afraid to take up space, speak their minds and have a little fun with what they wear. From feminist and empowering designs to bold, witchy, gothic and unapologetically sweary accessories, Lillis is about more than just making your hair look pretty.
Sometimes your hair accessory needs to say exactly what you're thinking. 😂

Never be afraid to pivot
One of the biggest lessons Lillis has taught me is that it’s okay to change direction.
There was a time when markets were a huge part of the business. I loved meeting customers face to face, but eventually I knew it was time to try something different. So I stepped away from markets, took a chance on TikTok Shop and started going LIVE.
And honestly? It changed everything.
I discovered a whole new community, found people who genuinely loved what I was making, and realised just how much I love going LIVE — chatting, showing off the accessories I’ve made and getting to know the lovely people who come along.
Lillis is very different from the business I imagined all those years ago, and that’s a good thing. It has grown, changed and evolved right alongside me.
So if you’re building your own small business and wondering whether it’s okay to change direction: it absolutely is. Sometimes the biggest growth comes from being brave enough to pivot. ❤️
A business that found its own way
For a long time, markets were a huge part of Lillis. But businesses change, and sometimes you have to be brave enough to change with them.
I stepped away from markets and started taking Lillis onto TikTok Shop and TikTok LIVE. It completely changed the direction of the business. I found a community, met so many lovely people and discovered that I absolutely love going live, chatting about the products I make and showing them off properly.
It reminded me why I started in the first place: because I love making things that people genuinely want to wear.
Handmade, independent & a little bit different
Nothing here is mass-produced. Lillis is a small business, and every accessory is made, packed and sent with care.
You'll find pretty and everyday pieces, huge XXL scrunchies for thick, curly, straight, long hair, extensions, braids and dreads, alongside bold alternative designs, feminist statements and sassy pieces that definitely aren't for everyone — and that's exactly the point.
Whether you're looking for something soft and pretty, something big enough to tame your hair, or something that makes people stop and read your headband twice, I hope you find something that feels like you.
Thank you for being here ❤️
After 12 years, Lillis is still a small business built around handmade products, creativity and people. Every order, every LIVE, every share, every review and every kind message genuinely makes a difference.
From a mum making bows for her little girl to the Lillis you see today — it's been one hell of a journey.
Thank you for growing with us. ❤️
